Capsa habitable

Example of reusing heritage. This project consists of making a reversible intervention which dignifies and updates an obsolete building due to the lack of self-sufficient society based on agriculture in the Pirenees. Instead of deleting the past and the cultural heritage, a light wooden box built in situ is placed where grass used to be dried like if it was a piece of furniture, which allows to create a minimum house well insulated benefited by the qualities of traditional architecture. Few resources are used in order to preserve and dignify the existing heritage and highlight its qualities, as well as allowing using craftsmen and local economy as to participate in a territorial equilibrium. The project consists of a spaces succession, transitions since the access at the street to the courtyard, the barn, the summer dining room, the interior kitchen and ending in the bathroom. The warm interior, created from scratch, consists of a living room and a bedroom that can be joined or divided by using a sliding panel. That’s how an economic, ecologic, social, didactic and minimum house was built.
